Life is Unpredictable... Stay Hydrated with a Mavea Water Filtration Pitcher - Review & Giveaway!

The worst part of moving from the country, to my own place in Norman, Oklahoma a few years ago was that I left the delicious well water behind for Norman water... the most disgusting city water I've ever had, YUCK! I've tried numerous water filters, pur, Brita, the pitchers, the ones that hook on the faucet, nothing would get rid of that taste (YUCK)! I was looking online one night and I came across Mavea Inspired Water , and I heard great things, but I'd heard great things about other filters too, and well, I told you how that turned out... YUCK! So I decided I wanted to try Mavea out and see how it stacked up!  I was SO excited to get this cool pitcher in the mail! It has an indicator on the lid that shows what % of life the current filter has left, so you always know when to change the filter! It has little rubber feet so it doesn't slip, and it's just sleek and looks pretty cool, for a water pitcher ;)  The best part is that the water taste amazing

Make Your Back 2 School Transition Natural w/ Zevia, the ALL Natural Soda - Review & Giveaway!

Zevia is an all natural ZERO CALORIE soda!  Okay, so I said all natural, but let me break that down for you a bit.  That means it doesn't have any artificial anything, no aspartame or other artificial sweeteners ,  no artificial flavors, nothing but all natural delight! I'm not a big fan of diet drinks, because I hate the aspartame aftertaste, so I was very excited to try Zevia, and see if the natural sweeteners would be any better. They sent me an assorted 6-pack to try out for the review and will be sending the winner of this giveaway a coupon for a free pack of Zevia. My daughter and I both tried all six varieties that were sent to us, Black Cherry, Grapefruit Citrus, Orange, Dr. Zevia, Caffeine Free Cola, and Mountain Zevia. You can check out the  Zevia Facebook page  to see all their other flavors!  We found that the fruity flavors had a pretty strong aftertaste, which I didn't personally care for, because like I said, I don't like strong aftertastes, but my

Start Shedding Lbs Now with Healthy To Go - Review & Giveaway!

If you read my previous post about Trim Energy and Go Greens , you know that I recently received a great package of Healthy To Go products to try out and giveaway on this blog.  My favorite thing about these products is that the ones that are okay for the whole family are noticeably marked "Family Approved," which makes it easy for both my daughter, who is eight, and me to tell which products are okay for her and which are just for Mom (usually the ones with caffeine that are directed towards energy or weight loss rather than general health and wellness). One product that actually isn't marked "Family Approved" but says that it's safe for children and adults over the age of four, are the VitaRocks , pictured above!  They are my daughter's absolute favorite vitamins ever! She couldn't get enough of these things!  They are similar to Pop Rocks in that they pop and snap in your mouth and they taste just like candy! She had a great time tak

Head Back to School a Bronze Beauty with Fake Bake's Beyond Bronze Self-Tanning Mousse - Review & Giveaway!!!

If you've seen my pictures, you know I'm pretty fair skinned.  My daughter on the other hand has lovely dark Italian skin and makes fun of me for being "electric white" lol.  (Yes, I get picked on by an eight year old... sad, I know!) So, I was extremely excited when I heard that Fake Bake, a company that has not only perfected self tanning, but makes products that are paraben free and made in the USA, was working with bloggers!!! I was even more excited when they accepted my offer to do a review of one of their products!!! I was shocked when I used Fake Bake's Beyond Bronze Self-Tanning Mousse for the first time.  It didn't stink, it didn't stain, and it dried really quickly! Plus, it was really easy to use! It's color allows you to see where you have applied it, and the smooth mousse formula allows you to apply it like a lotion. Plus, it felt great on my skin! My absolute favorite part of this amazing Fake Bake product was that I didn't lo

Trim Energy & Go Greens Reivew

I was sent a big package of various  Healthy To Go products to review and I've been trying them out for about a week now.  The main two I'm trying are Trim Energy and Go Greens, pictured above, which are both dietary supplements that come in powder packets that you mix with 16oz of water. Trim Energy  is made of green coffee beans, green tea, and ashwagandha which are healthy and natural ways to help reduce body fat, boosts metabolism, and control cortisol (the stress hormone). It's tea berry flavored and I think it taste similar to the V8 Fusion Teas, which I really like. I found that an entire package was a little too thick for my liking, so I've been mixing half a packet with 16 oz of water, which I think is just perfect. I love this product! I feel great after drinking my Trim Energy in the morning, it gives me the energy I need to get through my day.  I've made it part of my regular diet and exercise program and I will check back with you and let yo

Lindo's SwirlyDo Hair Ties and Twist-n-Roll Tweezers Reviews

I recently got a chance to try  SwirlyDo Hair Ties , on the right in the picture! I must say I really love them! They work great! I've used them at the pool while doing aqua fitness and haven't had any problems with them slipping out! They work just like they say they will! They don't leave that big bump in your hair like other hair bands, so they would be really great to use while your doing your makeup and getting ready in the morning too!!! I also got the chance to try out the  Twist-n-Roll Tweezers , on the left in the picture, and I must say it's pretty interesting.  I've never used anything like this before.  You bend the spring part in half and hold it against your skin and then roll it and it grabs the hair and pulls it out, like hundreds of little tweezers working simultaneously...  (see video below) It was kind of hard for me to get used to using at first, but I got the hang of it pretty quick.   It actually doesn't hurt much on small/ fine hair

Boo-Boo Cover-Up Concealer Review & Giveaway

I was ecstatic when I heard that Boo-Boo Cover-Up accepted my offer to feature them as a review on my blog! I have read about their product on other blogs and I just had to try it for myself! For those of you who haven't heard of Boo-Boo Cover-Up, it's basically this awesome cream that helps heal minor scrapes, burns, bruises, bites, rashes, scratches, and... well you get the idea ;)  Another great thing about it is it's made right here in the USA! 0.5 oz Medium $19.99 Right now it only comes in one shade, medium, but they are coming out with fair and dark shades soon, so everyone will benefit from the "imperfection camouflage!" Say good bye to walking around with bright pink calamine lotion or the white/ green ointments to heal your stings, burns, etc! Now you can have effertlessly perfect skin from head to toe, or at least that's what everyone will think, thanks to Boo-Boo Cover-Up! And with it's amazing combination of aloe, chamomile, gr

Review: New Rubbery Hair Bands from Scunci

I found these great new Scunci, jelly-like rubber, no slip ponytail holders at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago! They are kind of weird, not what you would expect in ponytail holder.  The rubber is round, but similar in consistency to the charity bracelets that everyone buys for the breast cancer, MS, Livestrong, etc. campaigns (the little colored plastic ones... you know what I'm talking about ;) Anyway, I wasn't sure what to think of them when I saw them.  Part of me thought they would probably pull all of my hair out like a rubber band, but curiosity won me over and I bought them so I could try them out for myself! I've been using these bright Scunci bands for a few weeks now and I love them! They are smooth, so they don't catch your hair and pull it! But they are rubbery so they stay in place well, even in the swimming pool! I really like them! I like them even more than the hair band I was actually looking for when I stumbled upon these (the Scunci no-slips that had

Coconut Water: The New Craze

You've probably seen the posts about the new coconut water craze spreading around the blogosphere faster than a cold in a preschool class. And I'm sure, if you're like me, you thought to yourself, "hum, that sounds pretty good, maybe I'll grab one at the store to drink before or after my next workout. Because, really, what could possibly be better for a body in training than a quick, easy, and tasty source of natural electrolytes???" Seems logical to me! So, that's exactly what I did last week when I went to the store I bought two different flavors and brands of coconut water, pineapple and pink guava, to try out.  I must say I had mixed reactions. The pineapple was the first one I tried and it was disgusting... I took one sip and that was one too many.  It was SO disgusting! It didn't taste like pineapple or coconut... it just tasted like crap (well not literally lol). I don't remember what brand it was but it was in a white box with a

Clear Moisturizing Dry Scalp Shampoo & Conditioner Review

You may have read my previous post about the Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Total Care  samples I reviewed a few weeks ago.  If you did then you know I received the full sized Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Moisturizing Dry Scalp  shampoo & conditioner, pictured above, after writing the company about my bad experience with their Total Care products.  I am happy to say that after two weeks of using the Moisturizing Dry Scalp products I am starting to come around to the Clear brand! The Moisturizing Dry Scalp shampoo is extremely thick, which makes it easy to actually get it all the way down to your scalp where it can do it's job... moisturizing your scalp!  The conditioner is actually not as thick as the Total Care conditioner or as the Moisturizing Dry Scalp shampoo, which I found odd because usually the conditioners are more thick than the shampoos, but it is very nice... and still pretty darn think compared to any other conditioner. Both the shampoo and conditioner hav

Born Pretty Store: Glow In the Dark Nail Polish

I just got my luminous polishes from Born Pretty Store in the mail today and I can't wait to share what I've found out about them so far!!! You probably already know that BPS is an affiliate of mine, and I absolutely LOVE their products, mainly because they are inexpensive but are of great quality! I did get these two luminous polishes  for free to try and review, but I was already looking at them to buy anyway, so I just kinda lucked out when they offered them to me :) Now if you are a regular reader (I may have 1 or 2 by now?? lol) you probably know that I am super cheap  frugal, and I am always looking for a good deal (especially when it comes to my nails). SO, these two nail polishes, which run $4.99 each, are what I would consider a little on the expensive side, I generally try to spend around $1-$4 on nail polishes, just because I buy SO many of them.  BUT the good news is that I've got a promo code you can use for 5% off your total purchase (MK5W21),  PLUS  Bor

Electric Companies Summer Off-Peak Hours Saving Opportunity

Image Source: OGE Smart Hours info page In Norman, Oklahoma, where I  live, OG&E has a program you can sign up for called Smart Hours .  On this program, during the summer months, if you use electricity during "off-peak" hours, as illustrated above, you pay less for electricity... MUCH LESS, generally around 4.5 cents/kWh vs the regular price of 11.3 cents/kWh! They claim that people save up to $200 using this program, but I was still skeptical until I read that if your electric bill goes up, they will refund you the cost of the increase! Once I saw that I had to try it!!! Looking at my comparison charts below, I'm glad I did.  As you can see from my comparison charts, in June I used about the same amount of electricity I did last year (bottom) but with Smart Hours pricing it cost me almost $20 less (top chart)!!! If you haven't signed up for this, or a similar program in your area, I would suggest looking into it, you could save a lot this summe
