Update on Things in My Part of the World!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to check in! I'm sorry I've been MIA from the blog/ FB the past few days but I've been trying to rally the troops here in Oklahoma to get donations into the hands of the people who have been impacted by the Oklahoma wildfires. As you can imagine, there was quite a deal of confusion at first, with new fires popping up all over the state. People were not sure who was in need of donations, what they needed, or where to drop them off, however thanks to many grassroots pages and groups that popped up on facebook and twitter, we were able to get people organized rather quickly, and now things are starting to run much more smoothly. Donations of all types are still needed, for both firefighters and those who lost their homes, but at least now the information is being organized and disseminated in an appropriate manner! I am fine, my family is all okay.  But many of my friends and neighbors lost everything! My community was hit hard, we lost ove

Donation Drive for those Displaced by the Oklahoma Wildfires

After tragic fires, like the ones that we have seen in central Oklahoma the past few days, there are many things that are in short supply. In the Norman/ Slaughterville, Oklahoma area alone 100 homes have already been devastated by the wildfire. And that is just one of many of the fires that are burning their way through our state. With the surrounding states all on high fire alert, it has been difficult for our firefighters to get any relief, as surrounding states are preparing for the worst themselves and can spare no one for relief efforts.   Our   HEROIC volunteer firefighters are in great need of water, Gatorade, power bars, and basically anything that can be easily eaten or drank (bananas, oranges, apples, grapes), as they battle the blazes in the whopping 110 degree, Oklahoma sun. Donations of this type can be delivered to the Slaughterville Fire Department at 10701 US HWY 77, Lexington, OK 73051 or the Luther High School Activity Center (just east of the new fo

Oklahoma Wildfires - Donations Needed

We  O klahomans are a pretty tough bunch.  We've dealt with terrorist bombings, tornadoes, hail the size of softballs, weird earthquakes, fires, and even earthquakes and tornadoes at the same time, and we get through it because we are always there to lend our neighbors a helping hand.  We don't have to be told to, it's just a part of who we are.  This phenomenon of Oklahomans coming together in times of distress is something the Oklahoma media coined as the "Oklahoma Standard."  It's that goodhearted, friendly, neighborly spirit that we have inside of us that tells us to help when we are needed.  It makes us go above and beyond just making a small donation and actually go help our neighbors rebuild their homes after a tornado hits. It's that thing inside of you that tells you to treat this stranger in need like you would your own family, not because you have to, but because you want to... Or at least that's what it's always meant to me.

Trim Energy & Go Greens Reivew

I was sent a big package of various  Healthy To Go products to review and I've been trying them out for about a week now.  The main two I'm trying are Trim Energy and Go Greens, pictured above, which are both dietary supplements that come in powder packets that you mix with 16oz of water. Trim Energy  is made of green coffee beans, green tea, and ashwagandha which are healthy and natural ways to help reduce body fat, boosts metabolism, and control cortisol (the stress hormone). It's tea berry flavored and I think it taste similar to the V8 Fusion Teas, which I really like. I found that an entire package was a little too thick for my liking, so I've been mixing half a packet with 16 oz of water, which I think is just perfect. I love this product! I feel great after drinking my Trim Energy in the morning, it gives me the energy I need to get through my day.  I've made it part of my regular diet and exercise program and I will check back with you and let yo
