After tragic fires, like the ones that we have seen in central Oklahoma the past few days, there are many things that are in short supply. In the Norman/ Slaughterville, Oklahoma area alone 100 homes have already been devastated by the wildfire. And that is just one of many of the fires that are burning their way through our state. With the surrounding states all on high fire alert, it has been difficult for our firefighters to get any relief, as surrounding states are preparing for the worst themselves and can spare no one for relief efforts.
- Our HEROIC volunteer firefighters are in great need of water, Gatorade, power bars, and basically anything that can be easily eaten or drank (bananas, oranges, apples, grapes), as they battle the blazes in the whopping 110 degree, Oklahoma sun. Donations of this type can be delivered to the Slaughterville Fire Department at 10701 US HWY 77, Lexington, OK 73051 or the Luther High School Activity Center (just east of the new football field)
- FOR CHILDREN: William Francais, the Fundraising Chairman/Board Member of Heart 4 Children Ministries, contacted me via the Oklahoma Wildfire Donations Drive Facebook Page and said that they are providing children with toys, clothes, books, and such to help with the recovery. If you know of any families with children who have been displaced, please give them his number, (405) 474-5505.
- The American Red Cross is providing shelter those displaced by evacuations and to the firefighters who are running low on supplies. They are taking cash donations! You can donate at your local chapter or you can donate online. Just go to the relief efforts page. A minimum $10 donation is required for online donations.
- As I said, many people have lost their homes. 100 in just one of the fires. These people will have to rebuild their lives from scratch. Others have been displaced due to evacuations and are in temporary need of the essentials. Thus the Maguire Burn Barn is accepting EVERYTHING! The most essential thing needed include diapers, formula, baby food, school supplies, food, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, and other toiletries, as well as clothes. Other items needed include furniture, appliances, bedding, toys, etc. These items or CHECKS, made payable to the Maguire Community Project, can be delivered or shipped to:

Why does this web site come up on the Firefox Web of Trust as having a poor reputation?
ReplyDeleteI honestly have no idea! I've not ever had anyone tell me that before and I get thousands of visitors a week. I've never had any problems with anything on my blog (except my occasional mistyping HTML lol). I've worked with many companies and many other bloggers and have never had any problems what so ever. Was probably just some type of mistake. If it happens again, please let me know.
DeleteIs there somewhere near Broken Arrow excepting everything (meaning household goods) as I was going to go through whole house room by room and grab anything we aren't using regularly and donate especially kitchen and linens along with clothes.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure where in Broken Arrow is taking donations. A lot of churches are taking donations. Here are a few links to lists of places that are officially taking donations that we know of.

DeleteWe have lost our home east of Norman and have started our own fund raising campaign. We had no insurance and there are no agencies that help with rebuilding efforts.
