Electric Companies Summer Off-Peak Hours Saving Opportunity

Image Source: OGE Smart Hours info page In Norman, Oklahoma, where I  live, OG&E has a program you can sign up for called Smart Hours .  On this program, during the summer months, if you use electricity during "off-peak" hours, as illustrated above, you pay less for electricity... MUCH LESS, generally around 4.5 cents/kWh vs the regular price of 11.3 cents/kWh! They claim that people save up to $200 using this program, but I was still skeptical until I read that if your electric bill goes up, they will refund you the cost of the increase! Once I saw that I had to try it!!! Looking at my comparison charts below, I'm glad I did.  As you can see from my comparison charts, in June I used about the same amount of electricity I did last year (bottom) but with Smart Hours pricing it cost me almost $20 less (top chart)!!! If you haven't signed up for this, or a similar program in your area, I would suggest looking into it, you could save a lot this summe

5 Celebs take off their clothes for Allure... My opinion

I follow Allure on Facebook, I post on their blog, I read their magazine, I like to be up on trends whether I choose to follow them or not... to those of you who know me personally, you know I usually choose "not" because I have my own things going on, but I still like to be in the know.  Anyway, I got an Allure Beauty e-mail, like I often do, directing me to their website to check out various articles.  I read about the latest nail polish and hair trends and I also saw a like to " The Naked Truth: Five Celebrities Go Nude for Allure ," which I thought, for some reason, was going to be one of those make-up free photo-shoots, which I love because I love to see what these famous people actually look like without all the makeup and photoshop! BUT I was mistaken. It was a nude (i.e. naked) shoot.  Five famous ladies posed for pictures naked, in the name of art and talked about how they prepared for the nude shoot, such as dieting so they would look better and getti

Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Total Care Shampoo and Conditioner Review

The Product So unless you've been hiding out under a rock with no internet or tv access, you've probably seen advertisements for Clear, the new line of shampoos and conditioners that claim we've all been going at hair care the wrong way, and that the most important component to beautiful hair is a nourished scalp.  On their website  and in their ads they claim that the "Nutrium 10" in their products "nourishes the scalp, creating the right foundation for strong, beautiful hair" which is supposedly noticeable after only 7 days of use.  Now if you really think about that it doesn't make any sense.  If the goal is to nourish the scalp so that it will in turn begin to produce healthy hair, how will your hair be healthy and have less breakage  after only 7 days ? Because all the damage already done to your hair is still there, right?  Well, I did find one or two places that do mention that it nourishes hair (see below, center of imag

Summer 2012's Watch List

Our review of shows returning this summer, that you just can't miss! I've seen a bunch of reviews, listing the "top shows of the summer" and in my opinion, no one got it right! So as an avid tv fan, I'm gonna set the record straight, with my Summer 2012 Watch List.   Sci Fi - Must Sees Game of Thrones (Sundays on HBO) Since season two premiered in March, it's not technically a "summer show," however, since it is my favorite show of all time and it will be airing in the summer, I'm going to list it anyway! If you aren't tuning into to HBO every Sunday for this show, you are crazy! This show has everything you could ask for.  It's set in a mystical-medieval type land, it's got sword fighting, kings, wars, great characters, and a supernatural element. Fans of The Tutors, Kings, Merlin, Spartacus, Rome, Camelot, and The Borgias , should check this show out!  True Blood (June 10 - 9pm ET on HBO) Of course, HBO&

PC Security Programs- 50% off McAfee

With the massive amount of security programs out there, how can you figure out which is the right one for you???  Whether you want to pay for added benefits or you want a free program that works well, I have something for you... Keep reading :) Free Protection AVG has a free anti-virus program available that, for the most part, works great.  It blocks viruses and troublesome programs from being downloaded, in real time- i.e. you don't have to run a search every time you download something because AVG checks it automatically; which is a great feature for a free program!  This program also allows you to set the priority of system scans, so if you are on your computer, you can run scan at low priority so that, in theory, it doesn't slow you down.  However, my experience with AVG is that even if you run the scans at a low priority it takes away some of the speed from whatever you are doing.  I mainly notice when using video hosting sites (hulu, netflix, etc). This problem al

Earning Money Online

I know there are a lot of people looking for web-based jobs but it's so hard to distinguish between REAL opportunities and SCAMS that they give up and decide to just keep doing what they are doing, no matter how miserable it makes them. I know that's how I was for years. I ran into so many scams I just gave up.  Then, one day I was directed to oDesk.com , an amazing website that pairs companies with workers online! It was so simple to start working on oDesk, I just signed up for an account, filled out my portfolio, and started applying for jobs as a freelance writer. If you're not a writer, don't fret, there are plenty of different types of jobs on oDesk.  Companies are looking for computer programmers, bloggers, people to check and respond to e-mail, data entry, etc. So no matter your field of expertise, you can find someone who wants to hire you! Plus, you set your wages! Another way to make money online is to start a blog, which can be about anything you enjoy.
